Urban Constellation

Tegeltableau gebaseerd op een panoramische foto van een stad bij nacht. In de bovenste helft van de stationshal is een oorspronkelijke houten kap te zien in combinatie met geglazuurd tegelwerk waarop nachtdieren als vleermuizen en uilen zijn afgebeeld. Het gehele bovenstuk steunt op bakstenen pilasters. Met het panorama op de onderste helft schuiven als het ware de twee ruimtes in elkaar en worden detailering, kleurnuanceringen en betekenis een eenheid. De titel, 'Urban Constellation', wijst op het oplichten van de (provincie)hoofdstad als een sterrenbeeld in de nacht.

Tiles covering all four walls of the central hall of the railway station, based on a panoramic photo of a city by night. The upper half of the hall reveals the original wooden ceiling combined with glazed tiles showing nocturnal animals like bats and owls. The whole upper construction rests on brick pillars. Seen with the panorama in tiles on the lower half the two spaces interlock as it were and become an entity in detail, colour shade and meaning. The title, ‘Urban Constellation’, refers to the lightening of the (province)capital like a constellation in the night.
