De bok, it gouden aai en de sân ravens

Een beeldengroep bestaande uit een steenbok op een gouden ei en zeven raven die op de twee  gevels van het – uit twee tegenoverliggende gebouwen bestaande – Fries Museum zijn geplaatst. De historische naburige panden bezitten veel ornamentaal beeldhouwwerk en op de dakranden staan allegorische figuren. Lopend door de straat lijkt er zich boven onze hoofden een mysterieus toneelstuk af te spelen dat een vervolg heeft gekregen in dit werk. De steenbok die het ei bezit waakt over het cultuurbezit, terwijl de makers ervan (vogels in kleurig gepatineerd verenkleed) argwanend de zaak beloeren. In een verhalenwedstrijd over het werk werden 53 friestalige verhalen ingezonden, waarvan de beste drie in boekvorm zijn verschenen.


A group of sculptures existing of an ibex standing on a golden egg and seven ravens set on the façades of the Fries Museum that consists of two opposing buildings. The neighbouring historical buildings show a lot of ornamental sculpture and allegorical figures on the rooftops. Walking along the street a mysterious play seems to take place above our heads, apparently continued in this work. The ibex dominating the egg is guarding the cultural heritage, while the producers of it (birds in colourful patinated feathers) suspiciously watch the scene. A writing contest about the work produced 53 stories in the Frisian language, of which the best three were published in a book.
