| Het 10 meter hoge opblaasbare beeld is gebaseerd op de eigen taal en authentieke volksverhalen van een streek in het zuiden van Friesland, Ooststellingwerf. Gedurende een maand reisde de boeman of ‘kienderskrik’ door de dorpen en dook op onverwachte plaatsen op in het landschap van hoogveen en maisvelden. Beu blies zichzelf op en zeeg ineen onder het uitstoten van ‘eu’- en ‘oa’-geluiden; de voor het Stellingwerfs typerende klanken. This 10 meter inflatable sculpture is based on the characteristic language and authentic oral history of a region in the south of the province of Friesland called Ooststellingwerf. During a month this ‘Beu’ or bogeyman travelled along the villages and emerged at unexpected places in a landscape of peat moor and cornfields. ‘Beu’ inflated itself and collapsed while making teddy bear noises using the ‘eu’ and ‘oa’-sounds characteristic for the Stellingwerf language. |
